Autumn Collapse

Adam J. Maynard

Roll on, remember
The leaves, the buildings
That candy smooth life
Holding tight to summer
How in the summer
You did your own stunts
Gathered artifacts in light
But who cared?
We were hypnotized
So from this angle it looked
Like you were in the world
Lemonade exploding
Out of you finger tips
Where were we going?
The house in the Caribbean?
To see the dust on the moon?
Look at the autumn sky
And be happy
Like rock fans in the summer
The square root of an apple
Waving goodbye
To a century
