The World Perspiring

Adam J. Maynard

The butterflies are drinking beer
A giant grasshopper in a Kimono appears
As we bid adieu to the afternoon
Preposterous in the primrose
The world perspires
Perpendicular to the daffodils
I felt the need finally
To emerge in to a clear space
And not to exist anymore
In an icing sugar coated dream
Or to remain frozen
Within an architecture of fear
So yesterday we laughed
In the soft pink morning
And already today
I’ve seen ten Pomeranians
Passing on orange skateboards
The Crows holding a party
High up in the lime tree
And later I see the moon
Chomping on a bloody great cigar
