nobody can agree what to call it. 

Office workers tend to give

little thought to the goings-

on in their gardens

during business hours.

A girl has the tender heart

the dean of students lacks.

We ask our children to repeat

the things we tell them, all

the while hating our parents.

The artist trashes

his or her hotel room

for the sake of those who couldn’t be here today.

This was their hope:

that their investment would mature at the end of the summer.
